Research talk at the host university (Escola Superior de Comunicação Social)

Last week I gave a research talk at the Escola Superior de Comunicação Social Master Class to the ESCS faculty. In addition to the research stream on attention and multitasking, I discussed my cross-cultural research and the most recent findings from the study abroad research on cultural intelligence. I also mentioned the student’s award-winning research project conducted in the biometric lab at The University of Akron College of Business – The University of Akron and how we teach the students to use the technology in the marketing research class.

I talked about my Fulbright experience at the Fulbright Portugal Forum 2024

I had an opportunity to share my Fulbright experience at the Fulbright Portugal Forum 2024. The Fulbright opportunity to conduct cross-cultural research on young consumer’s engagement in influencer marketing, to teach at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social , and to learn about Portuguese food, history, and culture is one of the highlights of my academic career. Thank you The Fulbright Program and Fulbright Portugal for this wonderful experience, which I will surely share with other scholars and students when I go back to the US.

Meeting the Assistant Secretary of State – Lee Satterfield

It was an honor to be invited by the Fulbright Portugal Commission to meet with the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) U.S. Department of State Lee Satterfield (left) when she visited Portugal and witness the signing of the MOU establishing a partnership between the Fulbright Commission and the AIR Centre – Atlantic International Research Centre. Marie Blanchard, Public Diplomacy Officer at the US embassy in Portugal (right) represented the US in the MOU signing. I also had an opportunity to discuss my cross-cultural research with them.

Fulbright scholar in Portugal

Two days after I arrived in Lisbon, I had the first meeting with Otília Macedo Reis and Dora Reis Arenga at the Fulbright Portugal office. Thank you for coordinating everything for all Portuguese and American Fulbright scholars and for the information that has made my transition to Lisbon easier. I am looking forward to participating in future Fulbright events in Portugal. #fulbright #fulbrighter #Fulbrightportugal #culturalambassador

They also recommended that I attend a “football” game while in Lisbon. We found tickets to a Benfica game on that Sunday. The European football culture is so much different from the American football culture and I love both of them!
